New Greenhouse
The New Greenhouse is almost up! The supports and the end walls are up. The roof vent is in. The electric is being put in as I write. We must have a very calm – no wind day- for the plastic. Right now it is snowing and blowing so not today. The weather has been very good for the construction project, though. January has not been very cold and fairly nice weather. We are greatly blessed!
The Tunnels
The lettuce, spinach, radishes, chard and kale from the tunnels are still producing. It has not been a banner year for our winter production. Several setbacks hampered us , but we do have some things, just not as much as anticipated. We are still weeding, picking, and now beginning to direct seed lettuce, radishes, turnips, beets and spinach for spring markets. Next week will mark the first week of 10 hours of daylight so things will begin to grow better in the tunnels despite the cold.
Pruning has not begun in earnest yet, that will happen in March.
We will be getting 125 new laying hens at the end of February and another 125 at the end of March. Right now we have a lot of feeder size pigs. We have been selling them individually.
CSA
We are taking CSA subscriptions now. Thanks to all who have already signed up and paid up for the year. All the information is on the website. We have not made any changes to prices, just updating the dates for 2023. Be sure to sign up before April 30 for the full 24 weeks for $700.
Farm Stand
The St Luke’s farm Stand is open every Saturday from 8 – 1 pm. Come out and support the local farm on Saturdays!
We hope you are having a restful winter and enjoying some good books!
