You are getting this email because you are on the list to get a CSA delivery next Wednesday, June 1 at your location.  If you were not expecting a share next Wednesday, Please let me know.

How It Works

Every week Gregg will be delivering a share for you to your location. Personal shares will be in white boxes with vegetables on it.  The half and full shares will be in tomato boxes.  Your name will be on your box.

You may take the box and bring it back to your designated drop off spot BEFORE Gregg gets there the next week or you can transfer the fruits and vegetables into your bags and leave the box at the drop off.

We Must Have our Boxes Back!  Last year I got pretty nasty about the loss of the boxes.  This year we added a $3.00 charge to all personal shares because of the loss of the personal share boxes.  Please remember to be diligent about this.

Please get you fresh fruits and vegetables into the refrigerator as soon as possible.

You can pay for your order right away with your credit card or you can save 4% by sending a check at the end of the 7 week session.  I will update the store every Monday, so check it out throughout the session.

Vacations

This year we instituted a new policy for vacations,.  If you let us know ahead of time, we  can hold your share and  you can get a double on the following
week.  You may do this for two weeks throughout the entire summer.   After the second vacation, you will have the choice to have a friend pick up for you OR donate your share to the DC Soup kitchen OR pick up at another location within the same week.

If you do not let us know and you do not show up, we will automatically donate your share.

We are looking forward to this year's CSA season and hope that you will enjoy the vegetables and fruits.  With the interesting weather patterns so far, it will be different - that is for sure!

Please let us know if you have any questions.
You will be getting an email on Monday morning letting you know what will be in your shares for week 1.

First delivery for the Spring session is next Tuesday, May 31

How it works

You can go to the Farm Stand either at DOT or Nat Geo.  Your name will be on a list, check off your name and pick up your box.  Make sure that if you are a personal share, that you take a white box with vegetables on it and if you are a half or full share that you take a brown tomato box.  If in doubt ask either Gregg or Oliver.

You can transfer your fruits and vegetables into your own bags and leave the boxes or you can take the box with you.  YOU MUST BRING BACK THE BOX NEXT WEEK!  Please remember this.  It is very frustrating when we run out of boxes and have to buy them in mid-season.

If you ordered eggs, the list will have it recorded and you can go to Gregg or Oliver and they will have eggs set aside for you in a cooler.

Please remember that fresh fruits and vegetables are very perishable.  Get them into refrigeration as soon as possible.

The Store
We will have the store open very soon.  You may order things from the store if you like.  Since we have most things at the stand already, you may not need to order them.  There are a few unique items that are only on the store, so check it out.

Dear Folks,

Thank you for bearing with all the changes that we have made this year.  Now we are making another one.  We are trying to move away from CSA deliveries and have market stands with CSA pick ups.  We thought that we would give Cedar Lane another try since two years ago it was able to make about $500/ week.  We had to move it to Friday because we just do not have any  more people to work the stands on Saturdays.  Unfortunately there is not enough traffic to warrant the stand or the CSA pick up.  Gregg made less that half on the first week and last week it was even worst.  We have been going to farm stands long enough to know that it will not get better only worse.  We know that once the CSA starts there would be more money coming in because all of you folks would buy from the stand as well, but the foot traffic and road traffic is just not good and as you all know the visibility is very bad.

So with all that said:  we decided to cancel the farm stand at Cedar Lane on Fridays before the CSA season actually starts so that you folks can find another option for getting your vegetables this summer.  We will also not be able to do any home deliveries since we eliminated the Friday delivery and there is no room on the Wednesday deliveries.

For some of you that have been with us for many years we will be saying Good Bye.

Thanks so much for supporting us over the years.  If you are convenient to any of our stands we would lovoe to see you, but we currently do not have any stands in the Bethesda area.

If you have already paid for your CSA, I will be either sending you a check or refunding your credit cards.  Thanks again for trying to help us.  We regret the decision, but we must make sure that we are being wise.

tTank you for understanding.
